Installation of a complete fire protection system in a renovated building

Emergency Response Center – Fire Alarm System Installation

The former warehouse located at 2506 37th Street in Vernon, BC has recently undergone significant renovations as it turned into a temporary homeless shelter to help protect those experiencing homelessness from COVID-19. The building itself, which is owned by BC Housing, is run by Turning Points Collaborative Society and seeks to provide daily meals, storage space, and laundry and cleaning services to its residents.

Our partners at First Response Fire Protection were tasked by the engineering firm responsible for the renovations to install a new fire alarm system in the building. Having attended a few of Maple Armor’s webinars during the pandemic, they were eager for a project on which to use Maple Armor. Thanks to the cost-effective and availability of the fire alarm products, Maple Armor proved to be the ideal solution for this time-sensitive project.

The new system includes Maple Armor’s flagship FW106 fire alarm control panel; the FW122 annunciator with weatherproof enclosure; the FW511 smoke detectors; the FW721 manual stations; and the FW962 Horn/Strobes.

We have received some awesome feedback from the clients who were pleased with how user-friendly the system was and how effortless it was to hook it up. They commended us for the technical support provided and will sure to use Maple Armor for their next projects.

On October 18th, a suspected electrical fire which is believed to have started in the office part of the shelter forced its 85 residents to find new temporary lodging. Thanks to the quick response from the staff, everyone was evacuated from the premises and there were no reports of injury. Furthermore, the damage to the shelter was kept to a minimum. We are happy to know that our system helped save lives and helped protect property.
